Wowowowowow what a crazy first week in Eagle Mountain!!!!
Where do I even begin?!?!
So on Monday and Tuesday we were basically just saying
goodbye to all of our friends and members. We were able to have 2 fantastic
send off dinners from 2 families in our ward! The Zamudios had us over for
wings. They bought us 60 wings from buffalo wild wings and it was SO good. Then
later that night we had an amazing Ecuadorian meal that the Tenecelas made
us!!!
On Wednesday it was transfers so we all met at the mission
office and talked until we it was time to leave with our new companions! So I
met up with Hermana Pringle and we headed to Eagle mountain! It's so fun here
and people actually have back yards!!!
On Thursday and Friday we went to this old couples house and
did about 9 hours of service for them.. we took everything out of there
garage... there was so much
Thursday evening we went to the polygamist area because the
English elders told us that they know one that is Latino. So first they
introduced us to this 17 year old kid named Jed. He's so awesome... he's
actually a recent convert and was baptized a couple months ago! He told us his
conversion story and Hermana Pringle recorded it for our missions Facebook
page! After we went to the lady's house but her husband said she was busy :(
Then the Elders introduced us to this other polygamist family before we left
and we met Ryan and his wife Sabrina. They are super nice and we taught them
the Restoration! So that was my first time meeting a polygamist but it was
fun!
On Friday we had a lesson with a girl named Jocelyn. She's
13 and she's awesome. She reads the book of Mormon and prays almost
everynight!!! So we are SUPER excited about that and are hoping to put her on
date pretty soon.
Saturday we did soccer with our investigators in our ward
and the other Spanish ward and then later that day we had our ward activity
where people brought their favorite meals from their country and shared it with
everyone!!! It was so good and the all the ward members were so nice!
Alrighty...Sunday is where it gets a little weird. So the
elders told us that one of Ryan's wife's was Latina and to come meet her. So we
were doing a lesson with her, Ryan AND Sabrina. Hahaha that was a little
interesting. So we taught the plan of salvation to them and they already knew
it because they have the same beliefs as us basically. After we were done, Ryan
asked us if we had any questions and so the elders asked a couple questions and
it was pretty casual, just us talking and asking questions and then after we
knew it they had told us everything about their religion!!! When we left we all
felt so weird. We found out that Ryan is a "seventy" for their church
and that he is one of their missionaries!!! So we called President and he told
us that we can still go by for food or service just not to teach them or let
them teach us!!! So ya they were trying to convert us to their religion... it
almost worked... jk...
No but for real, it helped me gain a stronger testimony of
our Prophet, President Nelson and to reaffirm my testimony that this is the
only true church!!! I'm so grateful for all of my experiences and the things I
have been able to learn from them!!!
Love ya'll soooo much and I hope you have the BEST week!!!
